These kasbahs were once home to wealthy families and served as fortified refuges against intruders and harsh weather.
The crown jewel of these fortified villages is Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. En route to Zagora, be captivated by the stunning palm groves and kasbahs of the Draa Valley, including the beautiful Kasbah of Tamnougalt. From Zagora, we venture to Tamegroute, known as the village of green pottery, where you’ll visit traditional clay kilns and a remarkable underground kasbah. Across desert tracks and remote Berber villages lost in the middle of nowhere, we cross the Oumjran plateaus and the Ouzina Desert, arriving finally at the iconic Erg Chebbi dunes.
Explore the tracks of the Erg Chebbi Desert and discover the everyday life of desert Berbers. The highlight of your stay is a magical night under the stars in our desert camp. On the way back to Marrakech, the journey continues with breathtaking stops: the majestic Todra Gorges, a spectacular canyon with towering cliffs and panoramic views.
In the Dades Valley, admire the striking red-hued landscapes and incredible geological formations. Visit more kasbahs, including the historic Amridil Kasbah nestled in the heart of the Skoura palm oasis along the Valley of Roses. At the Tichka Pass, before returning to Marrakech, explore the last kasbah of this journey: the Telouet Kasbah, once the opulent home of the powerful Pasha El Glaoui, the last great “Lord of the Atlas.”
