Day 14 - Tangier
We begin in Tangier, heading towards the picturesque blue town of Chefchaouen. From there, the road takes us to Fez, Morocco’s cultural and spiritual capital. Crossing the Middle Atlas and the lush Ziz Valley, we reach Merzouga and its golden dunes. Two full days in the desert will be spent exploring 4x4 desert tracks, visiting nomadic communities, discovering hidden oases, and enjoying a camel ride at sunset before spending a night under the stars in our luxury desert camp.
We then make our way to Ouarzazate, stopping at the dramatic Todra Gorges and the rose-hued Dades Valley. This stretch of the trip is lined with centuries-old earthen fortresses along what is known as the Route of a Thousand Kasbahs. In Ouarzazate, we visit the majestic Kasbah of Taourirt and continue the next day to the stunning Ksar of Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before crossing the Atlas Mountains to reach the lively city of Marrakech.
After a day exploring Marrakech’s rich history and vibrant souks, we slow down in the coastal town of Essaouira, with its relaxed bohemian atmosphere and charming old medina. The journey continues up the Atlantic coast with a stop in Casablanca, where we’ll admire the grandeur of the Hassan II Mosque, and then on to the imperial capital, Rabat.
